Music is heard throughout film, television, commercials and just everyday adventures. Rock and metal music has a huge role in the WWE Monday Night RAW wrestling series. Sports, music and movies inspire kids today to create, play and invent based on what their idols and parents are into. Meet Malcolm Brickhouse, a thirteen year old Brooklyn native whose inspiration came from all of the above. At the age of seven he picked up a guitar and hasn’t let go of it ever since. He brought on his friend that he met at a birthday party, Jarad Dawkins to play drums. Dawkins came from a family with a music background. The two of them formed, Unlocking the Truth. In 2012 they made it to the Show-Off-Round at the Apollo theater. This was called Amateur night and it was a competition that lead them to further exposure.
Brickhouse and Dawkins were playing for a while together as a two member act until they realized they needed a bass player. They asked their friend Alec Atkins whom they were friends with since pre-school to join the band. Atkins however, had no experience so both Malcolm and Jarad had to teach him bass note by note. Once Atkins honed his skills the three were on their way to further success.
