Violet Days, Small Band From Sweden Takes The Music Industry By Storm

Violet Days
Violet Days

Violet Days is an indie pop band from Stockholm, Sweden that has been taking the music industry by storm since they formed in 2010. Linda Hansson, the front runner of the group, was born in a small village in the countryside and regularly sang Swedish folk songs to her siblings throughout her childhood. While growing up she drew inspiration from the Beatles, Michael Jackson and Coldplay. In 2010, she finally made the move to Stockholm in order to pursue music full time, it is here that she met the rest of her bandmates.
The other members of the band are Fredrik Häggstam, Fredric Johansson and Kristoffer Eriksson. All of the members of Violet Days were born in different small town across Sweden and met after moving to Stockholm. Hansson provides the vocals for the group with Häggstam and Eriksson on the guitar and Johansson on the drums. Eriksson also serves as the bands producer.Their sound is best described as a mix of modern pop and rock with an arena/indie twist. Their name, Violet Days, is inspired by Hansson’s grandmothers name.
After forming Violet Days in 2010, Hansson traveled between London and Stockholm writing with different people and creating material for the band. Once she had enough material and experience she returned to Stockholm and they began recording their debut single “Razorheart”.
“Razorheart” was released in the summer of 2014 and reached the top of the Swedish iTunes chart. They followed the release of “Razorheart” with a few more singles including “So Dope” which surpassed half a million streams on Spotify. Their single “I’m a Dreamer” surpassed ten million streams on Spotify and hit #1 on HypeMachine earlier this summer!
“I’m a Dreamer”, which was released at the beginning of this summer, features not only the dreamlike voice and lyrics of Hansson but also the keyboard and production skills from Eriksson which enhances Hansson’s vocals. The groups guitarist, Fredrik Häggstam has also been featured on one of the “Chainsmokers” most popular tracks, “Paris”.  The video for this single will have you both reminiscing on your childhood while also reminding you to ignore what others say and chase your dreams. The video is in black and white and Hansson has stated that the reason behind this is because it enhances the darkness and edge of the track.
In 2017 alone they have released three singles titled, “I heart U”, “I’m a Dreamer” and “Suck at Love”. Violet Days has been releasing music through an independent record label called “100 Songs” in Sweden. This label typically deals with releasing songs digitally and serves as a great platform for artists who are still discovering and defining their sound.
The group was nominated for “Rookie Songwriter/Producer of the Year” at the Denniz Pop Awards in 2015.
“I wanted to tell the story of realists versus dreamers. It’s about the frustration when you have people around you that don’t see things or believe in them the way you do. When you constantly want to escape reality and dream away” said Hansson, the lead singer when asked about their single “I’m a Dreamer.”
The group is expected to release their debut EP sometime this fall with a string of tour dates in the future. If you are a fan of Michael Jackson or The Chainsmokers then this may be the group for you! Follow them on all of their social media accounts to stay up to date with all of their new projects!
