Latimer House is flashing us back to old school vinyl records in today’s digital era. In August, the Prague-based band Latimer House – which owns its record label Honk Records – released its latest single (really a double) “Birdcage Walk” – “Until Then” available in CD, Digital, and . . . an actual, a real, a bonafide – you can hold it in your hands and see it – 7” translucent red vinyl record wrapped in a uniquely artistic, foldout color sleeve. Vinyl likened to those in the old days with an added flare of color.
Eccentric and brilliant, Latimer House is the rising rage for Indie Rock, Indie Pop, and Alternative followers – the band classifies its genre as “guitar-driven, melodic, literate Pop, and certainly independent.” The band recently edited and spun off as a single release its latest hit “Birdcage Walk” from their critically acclaimed full length album All the Rage which was released in February 2014. Their latest single, “Until Then” is on the B-side and is definitely worth a spin. The band’s single “This is Pop” and B-side “Shake” – released in December 2013 – have been getting a lot of attention lately with Latimer House’s Facebook feed reporting over 1,000 plays and climbing on Sound Cloud as of mid-October. Of note, this single vinyl record is jade in color. So, the vinyl old school edge has been rejuvenated by Latimer House and Honk Records – who knew? Now, everyone’s up to vinyl record speed.
